Why pay more for bottled water?
Which type of bottled water should I prefer? There are many bottled water brands in Estonia – how is Devin different? Why should I pay more for this bottled water? These are the main questions that Devin product representatives hear. The following article is for those who want to better familiarize themselves with the topic of water and be able to make sure that there is a big difference between still and still.
Tap water vs. groundwater
Considering our daily water needs, it is clearly unthinkable that we only drink bottled water. This is not fair to the environment and nature. If possible, tap water should be consumed daily, or even better – well water (groundwater) and spring water found in nature. Spring water is considered the cleanest and does not need to be purified. The quality of well water should of course be checked from time to time, but in general, well water should also be naturally clean and suitable for consumption. However, tap water, groundwater and spring water are very poor in minerals. Since the body needs minerals for various reasons, it is worth taking steps to buy mineral water from the store from time to time.
Purified water or mineral water?
Now that you are at the bottled water counter, choose carefully what you spend your money on. At first glance, it may seem that the choice is large and the cheapest bottle can be purchased for just a few dozen cents. But at this point, you might think: do I need this tap water or if I had to spend money on bottled water today, would I buy mineral water instead? The bottled waters on the counter differ from each other precisely in terms of mineral content and pH level. As ordinary consumers, we make our choices mainly based on price and the taste of the water, but we cannot distinguish the minerals in the water. More expensive bottled waters usually come from mountains or other sources hidden in the earth’s crust and contain naturally beneficial minerals. Therefore, it is always worth investigating the origin of a particular bottled water.
How to make better decisions?
Of course, you can make a decision based on price or taste, but in reality, you should read the labels of different bottled waters. Every bottled water sold in a store must have a list of mineral content. The most well-known of these are minerals such as sodium, calcium and magnesium. In addition to the importance of minerals, you should also pay attention to the pH level of the water (alkaline value above 7 and acidic below 7). In addition to the composition of minerals, it should be clear from the product name whether it is water rich in minerals (mineral water) or whether it is spring or some other drinking water. Mineral water can be both natural (natural mineral water) and artificial (water with added minerals). Usually, only water from a natural source can be sold under the name spring water, but this is usually water with a low mineral content. However, it is worth noting that mineral water can also be spring water.
So if you don’t want to spend time analyzing the composition of minerals, you can get the basic information from their names. Conscious consumers get their daily vitamins and minerals from food and drinking water. That’s why it’s recommended to choose bottled water that provides the body with the necessary dose of minerals or helps the body neutralize excess acid. Compared to tap water or any other drinking water, mineral or spring water may still be a better choice in a bottle.
Water pH
There is more and more talk about the pH of water. About alkaline water and its wonderful effects on our health. Why is pH important anyway? To put it briefly, for example, as we age, our overall body pH level drops (doctors talk about acidification of the body), becoming more acidic than normal (7=neutral) (< 7). Life does not exist in an excessively acidic environment! Yes, for example, cormorant feces are very acidic and have managed to destroy nature so that only dead soil and dried tree trunks remain. Unfortunately, an excessively acidic human organism is also the end of life. The body is constantly working to maintain the pH of the blood at an ideal 7.365. It is worth paying attention to the consumption of alkaline food and water to maintain your health and live a long, full life. Favorite foods such as coffee, wine and desserts containing sugar are excessively acidic or produce, in addition to excess calories, excess acids. Smoking, stress and, for example, excessive exercise (lactic acid is constantly produced in the body) also do not help the body maintain a normal pH level. In this sense, alkaline water is the basis of life.
Hence the recommendation to choose carefully what you spend your money on. Just as important as green cabbage and fresh berries are for the body, water is! Water, which we actually consume the most of all foods, has a greater impact on our health than we can even imagine today. To avoid spending our pension on medicines in the future, let’s try to pay more attention to our health today by drinking high-quality water and eating high-quality food! Our decisions today determine who we will be tomorrow!
